The Travel Diary - Ganga Ghat, Rishikesh

GANGA AARTI~~My tryst with spiritual bliss!
____________

As dusk descends, the sacred Ganga Aarti is performed on the banks of the river Ganges in three holy cities of India;Haridwar,Rishikesh and Varanasi. However the ceremony is very different in each of these places.

I just wanted to relive the moment by penning down my first ever experience of Ganga Aarti on the Ghat near Ramjhula in Rishikesh.

Watching the pleasant ritual and living it 'live' then and there is nothing less than a celestial escapade.

The Aarti is usually carried out every evening(rain, hail or shine) in form of huge lit lamps swayed and circled in perfect synchro by the pandits-(all draped in silk yellow robe) facing the river Ganga while a huge statue of Lord Shiva overlooks the entire proceedings.
It commences with blowing of conch shells, clanging of bells, chants of hymns, bhajans, smell of incense sticks, the heady scent of sandalwood thickly permeating into the air.
All these combine to make a great sensory and visionary impression.

Literally my soul got goosebumps while soaking in the powerful vibes of that heavenly abode.
Would love witnessing such an awe-inspiring act for any number of times to come and let all my senses indulge in the mystical Divine affair.
😊😍
P.S-The pictures are throwback to those times when social distancing was not even a thing to think about and the term lockdown never existed in reality for us.
